The first time you saw Avnita, you wouldn't have missed her. There was something about the way she carried herself - a quiet confidence wrapped in gentle warmth. Her eyes, deep and curious, seemed to hold stories untold, like pages fluttering in the desert breeze of Ajmer. Her laughter wasn't loud, but it lingered, soft and reassuring, like the scent of wet earth after the first monsoon rain. She wasn't the kind to seek the spotlight, yet somehow, people were drawn to her - to her kindness, her resilience, and the strength that lived beneath the calm surface. Avnita moved through life with grace, like a river carving its own path - steady, thoughtful, and beautifully determined. Those who crossed her path left with a piece of her spirit - gentle, inspiring, unforgettable.

Avnita-who had just woken up from sleep-was sitting on her bed, rubbing her eyes. Her hair was messy, and half of her face was pressed into the pillow.
Just then, the door opened with a soft knock.
Her mother, Ranisa Karnavati Raghuvanshi, walked in and said in a slightly sarcastic tone with a faint smile,
"Your Majesty... so you're finally awake? Shall I send your breakfast upstairs?"
Avnita rolled her eyes and replied in a sleepy, mildly irritated voice,
"Mommm... don't start the drama so early in the morning. I'm not some princess."
Ranisa placed her hands on her waist and said,
"If you're not a princess, then who gets the royal privilege of sleeping till noon every day?"
Avnita, hiding a small smile, said,
"Okay, fine, I'm coming... just give me five minutes."
Turning around, Ranisa said,
"Your five minutes usually mean fifty. Come downstairs quickly, or you'll actually get royal treatment."
A small smile slowly curved Avnita's lips as she looked at her mother. In a soft, almost pleading voice, she said,
"Mom... I'll be there in just five minutes."
Ranisa Karnavati became furious with anger. She snapped,
"Do you even have something called shame, or not, Princess Avnita? Get ready quickly and come downstairs."
Saying this, she angrily walked out of the room.
Avnita remained standing there for a few moments, lost in thought. After a brief pause, she finally turned and walked into the washroom.
When she emerged, she looked entirely transformed. She was dressed in a sky-colored lehenga choli that softly complemented her presence. Her hair fell in perfectly defined curls, framing her face with effortless grace. Long earrings adorned her ears, subtle yet undeniably elegant. Navy blue velvet bangles encircled her wrists, adding a quiet richness to her look.
She walked downstairs, and there in the hall sat Ranasa Vedang and Ranasa Amar Singh Raghuvanshi, already seated and waiting.
As Avnita stepped downstairs, her gaze immediately fell upon Ranasa Vedang. His sharp jawline, his broad, well-defined face, and the way he carried himself while sitting-nothing about him seemed any less than royal.
Avnita found herself unable to look away, captivated by Vedang's presence and personality. It was as if she had drifted into his thoughts without realizing it. At that moment, something stirred deep within her heart, yet she could not understand this unfamiliar feeling that had quietly begun to take hold of her.
On the other side was Vedang-deeply absorbed in his own work. He had no idea that somewhere nearby, there was someone watching him with tender, affectionate eyes. A presence so gentle, so quiet, that even its warmth failed to reach him... and he remained completely unaware of the feeling meant just for him.
In that moment, countless things were unfolding all at once. New emotions were quietly awakening-feelings stirred by a person who, perhaps, might one day become a source of trouble for her.
Avnita moved forward slowly, her steps hesitant, until she stood just a few inches away from Vedang. Suddenly, a soft hand rested on her shoulder. For a brief moment, Avnita froze in fear. She turned around-and there, standing before her, was Ajmer's young princess, Saanvika Raghuvanshi.
Saanvika leaned in close and whispered softly into Avnita's ear, "Diii... if you keep looking at Ranasa with such loving eyes, you might just wound him with your affection."
Hearing Saanvika say that, Avnita lightly tapped her on the shoulder and said, "Have you gone mad, Saanvika? Come on, let's go have breakfast-otherwise Mom will come and scold both of us."
With that, the two of them walked away together toward the dining hall. Soon, Saanvika and Avnita disappeared from the place.

Ranasa Amar Singh slowly lifts his gaze and looks toward me. There is something in his eyes-an unspoken restlessness, as if a worry has settled deep within him. Then, softly, his voice reaches my ears. I raise my eyes to meet his.
Ranasa Amar Singh says, in a voice touched with hesitation,
"Ranasa, what you are saying is a hundred percent true, but for us, accepting it is somewhat impossible."
His words carry a quiet fear, restrained yet unmistakable, lingering in the air long after he finishes speaking.
I look at Ranasa Amar Singh once again, my gaze deep and unwavering. Taking a slow, steady breath, I speak,
"I don't want to hear anything about what you can do or what you cannot. I only want to see my work being done. Otherwise, you know very well what all we are capable of."
As I say this, I lift one eyebrow slightly-just enough to let the warning in my words sink in.
Ranasa Amar Singh nods his head in agreement, fear clearly reflected in his demeanor. Watching him like that, I allow a faint smirk to curve on one side of my lips. After sitting with him for a short while longer, I rise and depart from there, setting out on the road to Jaipur.
